Tire selection
The safety, economy, and comfort of vehicle operation are related to the reliability, rolling resistance, adhesion, and cushioning performance of tires, respectively. Therefore, there are generally strict regulations for the tire specifications used in various vehicle models. Nowadays, the car models in the market are complex, with many tire specifications, and both diagonal and radial tires are used simultaneously. However, our car owners have limited knowledge about tires, which undoubtedly poses a hidden danger to driving safety. To prevent accidents, it is recommended that when assembling tires, the "eight unifications" must be achieved on the same axis of the car: the same specifications, structure, material, level, pattern, brand, air pressure, and load.
1. Same specifications
Tires of different specifications have different outer diameters and cross-sectional widths after inflation, resulting in different load distributions when installed on the same axle. Therefore, it is required that the same specifications be used on the same axle. In addition, vehicles without special requirements for the front and rear axles should also have the same tire specifications.
2. Same structure
The arrangement of radial tire body cords is perpendicular to the wheel rim, with large radial deformation and good cushioning performance. The belt layer is relatively hard, so the circumferential deformation is small, and rolling for one cycle is close to the length of the outer circumference of the tire; However, diagonal tires are different, with small radial deformation and poor cushioning performance. When driving, the parts in contact with the ground are compressed, resulting in large circumferential deformation. The distance of one revolution is less than the outer circumference of the tire. If two types of tires are mixed on the same axle, they will inevitably bear different loads and wear differently. Therefore, tires with the same structure must be assembled on the same axis.
3. Same material
The material mainly refers to the material of the tire body cord. There are significant differences in the thickness of the tire body, cord strength, and heat dissipation performance between all steel radial tires and fiber radial tires, which can affect their performance when mixed together. Therefore, the tire carcass cord materials on the same axis must be the same.
4. Same level
The hierarchy is the load level of the tire, and the corresponding air pressure standard is determined. When tires with different load capacities are mixed together, the inflation pressure is not consistent, and the deformation of the tires is also different. Therefore, it is necessary to achieve the same level on the same axis to ensure that the load on each fetal position is consistent.
5. Same pattern
The different tire patterns not only result in different wear, but also in different adhesion to the ground. Inconsistent tire patterns on the left and right sides of a car can affect its smoothness, and there may be unilateral and tail shaking during emergency braking. Therefore, the same pattern must be achieved on the same axis.
6. Same brand
The contour size, tread width, pattern shape, and cord material of tires vary depending on the manufacturer. Mixing tires of different brands together can affect their performance. Therefore, the same brand must be achieved on the same axis.
7. Same air pressure
The air pressure is determined by the level, and tires with the same level should maintain consistent air pressure. Inconsistent air pressure can cause different tire deformations. Therefore, the air pressure must be the same on the same axis.
8. Same load
The load is determined by the level and air pressure, and tires with the same load capacity should be installed according to the usage conditions such as load, so that their load capacity is the same, which can extend the service life of the tires. Therefore, the load on the same axis must be the same.
In addition, vehicles operate under specific conditions and have specific requirements for tires. After use, repair, and refurbishment, the performance of tires may decrease and they can only adapt to certain usage conditions. Therefore, they need to be selected and matched with each other.
For example, better tires should be installed on the front axle or vehicles with long transportation distances; Vehicles that frequently drive on soft and muddy roads should be equipped with tires with horizontal patterns and deeper residual patterns to prevent slipping; Vehicles that frequently drive on roads covered in rocks and hard objects are recommended to be equipped with used tires or repaired tires to reduce losses caused by punctures and scratches on the tires; In summer, the temperature is high and the tires heat up greatly. The front and rear axles of the vehicle should be equipped with good tires to prevent high-temperature tire blowouts; In winter, the temperature is low and the tire temperature rises slightly, so it can be equipped with slightly lower tires.
